Honoring The Four Chaplains of World War II

On February 9, 2019 at 11am, the American Legion Lt. Fred H. Clark Post 91 along with the Saratoga County American Legion is hosting its 6th Annual Memorial Service to commemorate the 76th anniversary of the sinking of the USAT Dorchester.

A light lunch will be served after the ceremony.

This event is free, however donations are GREATLY appreciated! All proceeds will be distributed to the Chapel of Four Chaplains Foundation, Capital Region Nordic Alliance Inc., and to the Veterans Trust and Agency Fund.

On Board the USAT Dorchester, a transport ship that sank when it was hit by a German submarine JU-233, were four US Army Chaplains who gave their lives to save other civilian and military personnel:

Clark V. Poling, Reformed Church of America
Alexander D. Goode, Jewish
John P. Washington, Catholic
George L. Fox, Methodist

Today, as it has these many years, The Chapel of Four Chaplains serves the memory of the brave men that perished on February 3, 1943, and carries with them their message of interfaith cooperation and selfless service to every part of the nation.
